What to do in Ireland

Dublin has great shopping and a vibrant nightlife offering a number of pubs with live music sessions throughout the city or even a local who is only too happy to trade some old folktales. Visit Johnny Fox’s in the Dublin Mountains for some traditional Irish music and dance. For the History buffs, check out the manuscripts at Trinity College or the 1916 Easter Rising Exhibition at the GPO. Finally, you can unwind with a Guinness in the famous Gravity Bar which boasts impressive 360 degree views over Ireland’s historic rooftops. If you’re looking to get out of the city, spend a night in a castle or check out some of the award winning golf courses. For some fantastic views, we recommend cycling the Ring of Kerry, a boat out to the beautiful Aran Islands or a trip to Donegal’s Slieve League cliffs for some impressive views of the edge of the earth.

What to bring to Ireland

Ireland has cool summers and colder winters – so prepare yourself! Umbrellas and rain jackets are a year round requirement especially if you will be visiting any of the coastal areas. Layers are also recommend as the temperature can vary throughout the day/week. If you are taking a trip to one of the beautiful golf courses, be sure to check the dress code on the respective website. If you are planning on bringing your best gear with you, you can ship golf clubs to Ireland, along with biking or hiking gear as well. Luggage Free will transport your luggage to the hotel or bed and breakfast of your choice.

What to bring home from Ireland

Ireland is well known for amazing craftsmanship. Waterford and Galway Crystal is great, but you can easily get this in the States. A visit to Newbridge Silverware in Kildare or Avoca Woolen Mills in Wicklow will sort out all of your gift ideas. How about an Irish tweed jacket or cap, or chunky sweater made from Aran wool? If you’re not a sweater wearer, try a cozy throw for remembering your trip on a chilly evening. Claddagh or Celtic-knot jewelry is a great choice for those who want a little shine in their lives. And you can never go wrong with a little warmup from Dublin’s Celtic Whisky Shop.
