Located in central Florida, Orlando is in the top 25 largest metropolitan areas in the United States. Known as “The City Beautiful” and “The Theme Park Capital of the World,” it encompasses not only several theme parks, but numerous movie studios, theaters, professional sports teams, and parks.

What to do in Orlando

We’re sure you’re familiar with Walt Disney World, Epcot, Universal Studios and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. But if you’re looking for non-theme-park fun, Orlando’s got you covered. For a bit of nature in the midst of the metropolis, spend a morning walking or playing disc golf at the University of Central Florida Arboretum, then enjoy a concert with the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park. Wrap up your day at a great wine bar or the Orlando Brewing Company, where all the beer is organic.

What to bring to Orlando

Orlando is quite warm all year round, with the warmest and rainiest months from June to September. Rain gear is a must during those times. You’ll probably be able to get away with jeans in the winter months, but definitely pack shorts whenever you come. If you’re going to spend any time outside, be sure to bring sunscreen and bug spray. There are some great trails and golf courses, too – so have Luggage Free transport your bike or golf clubs to your hotel for you.

What to bring home from Orlando

The iconic Orlando souvenir, of course, is a pair of mouse ears. You may also pick up your wand or swag with your House insignia from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. For offbeat, kitschy souvenirs, check out Eli’s Florida Orange World, which sells everything from citrus fruits to T-shirts and keychains, to gator jerky. For more refined tastes, check out the gift shop at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art.
