Yes, you have to pay to drive it. But, the views from the top are worth every penny. The road winds up Mount Mansfield which actually resembles a human profile from the side and it’s also the highest mountain in Vermont. Some visitors opt to hike up the mountain, too.

The ride up the mountain will afford glimpses here and there of the ultimate view from the top which includes panoramic views of Lake Champlain, the Adirondack Mountains, and, of course, all of the surrounding fall foliage.

If you’d rather ride to the views versus drive or hike, Stowe offers yet another method to do it. Simply hop aboard Stowe Mountain Resort’s Gondola SkyRide which takes you to the top of Mount Mansfield. Once you’re there, you can grab a bite to eat at the Cliff House Restaurant that serves delicious grub and, you guessed it, incredible views.
